To provide one cooling blower assembly; including the motor, for the USNS ZEUZ’s STBD Main Propulsion Motor. This describes the performance, testing, and documentation requirements for the cooling blower assembly.
2. SCOPE:
2.1 Requirements
2.1.1 Provide one counterclockwise (CCW) blower assembly, BIHS190-05_5180CCW4_150, per drawing 2805002. The blower shall meet the following characteristics and performance specifications:
1. 13,120 CFM @ 6.0” H2O at 113o F
2. Arrangement 4 SWSI (Single Width Single Inlet) as specified by ACMA 4 Standard 99-2404-03.
2.1.2 The blower shall have Marine-Grade motor (IEEE 45) that has the following minimum characteristics:
1. 40 HP
2. 3600 rpm (synchronous speed)
3. 460 Volts
4. 3 Phase
5. 60 Hz
6. 324T or 324TS Frame Size
7. Severe Duty, TEFC
8. Rated for continuous operation at ambient of 50 degrees C
9. Permanently-lubricated, sealed bearings
10. Capable of meeting the test criteria in ABS Marine Vessel Rules section 4-8-3/3.15.
11. Meets recommendations for IEEE 45 Recommended Practice for Electrical Installations on Shipboard: Section 13, Motor and Motor Application.
2.2 Perform the following:
2.2.1 Balancing:
1. The blower wheel shall be initially balanced with corrections in two planes. Balancing shall be done to the balance grade G2.5 per ISO1940/1 standard.
2. A final trim balance shall be completed of the blower assembly.
3. Complete balance reports from the initial balance and final trim balance shall be provided. Reports should include, but not limited to, initial unbalance, final unbalance, and weight corrections and locations.
2.2.2 Weigh: Provide a certified weight of the entire cooling blower assembly.
2.2.3 Factory Acceptance Testing:
1. Performance Testing - The blower assembly shall be operated to verify it meets the performance specification listed Section 2.1.1 (13,120 CFM @ 6.0” H2O at 113o F). Performance test to be witnessed by Military Sealift Command. Performance test results shall be provided.
2. Operational Test – The blower assembly shall be run tested for four hours at 13,120 CFM @ 6.0” H2O once the motor has reached a stabile temperature of (temperature rise of no greater than 1oC in 15 minutes). Operational test to be witnessed by Military Sealift Command. The run test shall include, at a minimum, measuring and recording the following readings every 20 minutes:
a. Vibration readings at the NDE (Non-Drive End) and DE (Drive End) of the motor
b. Shaft rpm
c. Motor casing temperature
d. Motor current
e. Motor voltage
f. Air flow
g. Outlet pressure
3. Conduct post testing visual inspection of cooling blower wheel, housing, motor and foundation for cracking. Verify that all mechanical fasteners remained in place and at original torque values. Inspect the inside of the blower housing for contact with the blower wheel.
2.3 Technical Documentation- Provide the following technical documentation:
2.3.1 Technical Manual(s) shall be provided to support the installation and maintenance of the blower.
