Description

Project 652-323 Improve Surgical Operating Access and Correct Facility Deficiencies Richmond, Virginia Construction Scope of Work Project Background: This scope of work is for the minor construction Project 652-323 located at the Richmond VA Medical Center. Scope of Work: The Contractor shall provide the following services in accordance with the Scope of Work and all contract drawings, specifications, and amendments. The overall intent of this project includes, but is not limited to the following: This project will construct approximately 16,000 square feet of space in Building 500 to provide modernized, state of the art operating rooms. New space is needed to provide operating suites that are sufficiently sized to meet the modern day complex cases which include robotic surgery. The A/E design documents for this expansion project improve the surgical operating access and correct facility deficiencies by expanding out onto a second-floor roof from the existing structure. The addition shall include an interstitial space, 2 OR rooms, HYBRID OR, PACU with 8 Bays, IT Closet, HVAC System as well as supporting spaces. The work will include modifications to the existing HVAC rooftop systems to support the new expansion. All work to be completed at the Richmond VA Medical Center at 1201 Broad Rock Boulevard; Richmond, Virginia 23249 Work is to be completed within 425 calendar days from Notice to Proceed (NTP). Construction Phasing Project to be phased to not interrupt current health care services provided throughout the existing facility. Plans to be developed by the Contractor and approved by the VA to eliminate interruptions or kept to an absolute minimum. Emergency egress shall not be compromised during construction. Contractor parking and staging areas have not been identified. Staging for construction materials will be available as close as possible to affected building, if necessary, during construction. Contractor is responsible for building construction/demolition remediation throughout construction process until the work is accepted by the VA. Contractor to coordinate with VA COR prior to all construction phasing and staging while on station. The Contractor will only be afforded access to the VAMC from the exterior work side and no access will be afforded the Contractor in or through VAMC spaces. Justification for this Project: This Project is required to provide to the VAMC the space and facilities to correct facility deficiencies and improve surgical operating access to the veteran population in this community. Additionally, this project has been determined to be a Bona Fide need by the Richmond VA Medical Center, the VISN 6 Capital Asset Manager, and the VHA Healthcare Environment and Facilities Programs (HEFP).
