Amendment 0006 Questions and Answers In areas with dual/bi-level switching, would Lexington VAHCS Bowling Campus consider ½ the fixtures on one switch and ½ on the other? Should dual drivers be required? Would a specific number of those fixtures be needed? Answer Re-use existing lighting control pattern. Fixtures with dual switching are required. Yes-see spread sheet for details. Will Attic stock required? Answer No Can the Lexington VAHCS Bowling Campus provide a copy of the latest Reflective Ceiling Plans for the campus? Answer We currently do not have a comprehensive set of these plans. All we have are the 1973 hardcopies (Tower bldg.) and the 1989 digital copies (Main bldg.) What means are used to secure the new troffer fixtures in the suspended? Could hurricane clips be used to attach to the grid?  Or do the fixtures have to be tied to the building? Answer See Interior Lighting Specification 265100 for details. Are direct wire LED tubes acceptable on open fixtures? Or will they need to be replaced for continuity? Answer - Install Type B with Bypass Socket kits Could the Lexington VAHCS Bowling Campus provide the Surgical Suites room numbers and the fixture s specifications and counts? Answer Room numbers: A608, A610, A611, A615, A617, A622, B612, B615. 14 each per room. Could occupancy sensors be used to conserve energy costs? Answer Use existing switching-some already have occupancy sensors. How will the GC and Electrical teams get access to sections / departments? Answer Through coordination with the COR and occupants. Is there a phasing plan or sections / departments that will be prioritized? Answer The Contractor shall be specifically responsible for the coordination and proper relation of his work to the building, structure, phasing and ensure the safety of employees and workmen. The solicitation states that the contractor must replace whips or wiring from junction points if COR deems necessary and should be at no additional cost. Please provide a fixture amount to rewire and include in the price proposal? Answer We don t have a count and these will need to be identified during the work. Please confirm that the wall switches and lighting controls will not be replaced or affected under this contract. Answer Only the ones damaged during the process of this project. It looks like the due date for this project is listed on SAM.gov to be on February 14th, please confirm due date. Answer Due date is February 14th, 2024. Can you provide the quantity of recessed lights that are installed in drywall ceilings? Answer Please see SOW Attachment 1 Excel Spreadsheet for details. Is the intent of the project to replace the lights (housings included) that are installed in drywall ceilings or is it acceptable to remove the ballast and install LED lamps? Answer All obsolete, damaged, and or dirty fixtures need to be replaced. If light fixture housings are required to be removed, who is responsible for drywall patch/repair and paint? Answer The awarded Contractor. Can you provide the monthly electrical utility bills showing the consumption rates for the last 12 months, including the usage rate? Answer 16,368,000 KWH was used in 2023. Are there any areas of the building that contain any asbestos materials above the ceiling that would potentially be exposed to patient areas?  Retrofitting the existing fixtures may be an alternative option to replacement of the fixture in those areas. Answer Due to the age of the existing facility the exposure to Asbestos Containing Materials can occur. It is unexpected but the work outlined in the statement of work could meet the definition of small scale, short duration activities. In such cases, compliance with Federal Regulations with regards to engineering controls and safe work practices as outlined by EPA Title 40 must be followed. Do any of the fixtures contain emergency battery packs to sustain lighting during the transition period of the generator transfer period? Answer Yes- all the Surgical rooms: A608, A610, A611, A615, A617, A622, B612, B615. The spreadsheet of light fixtures contains fixture descriptions PAR20-HAL-100W , MR16-HAL-40W , and A19-HAL-29W .  What types of fixtures are these lamps installed in? Answer Track lights Can pictures of fixtures in the operating rooms please be provided? Answer Can you please specify if there are any rooms/areas where UV/disinfection fixtures are required? Answer None are required on this project. Is it possible to see any RCP of the hospital? Pictures would be acceptable. Answer We cannot provide. What is the fixture style or can we see a picture of this fixture? A009 retail storage PAR20-HAL-100W Answer Track Lights Can the kWh cost rate for the hospital be provided? Answer - $0.0832/KWH Is retro fitting fixtures permitted, this will greatly influence cost of labor. Answer See Statement of Work. Is a central control system required or in room control only? The MRI rooms appear to be rooms adjacent to the MRI rooms. Behavioral health spaces are often required to be anti-ligature. Answer Both the room housing the MRI machine and the new Behavioral Health area on the 1st floor are excluded from this project. Can the elevation of the existing fixtures and the spacing between fixtures be provided for the 2x4 high bays fixtures? Answer No. This information is necessary for identify a suitable replacement fixture. There are several fixtures that are listed as Boxes . Are these just surface mount fixtures? Can we be provided with further descriptions or pictures for the Box fixture types? 1x4 Box 2L T8 2x2 Box 3L T8 2x4 Box 3L T8 Dual 2x4 Box 4L T8 2x4 surface mount box 4L Answer These are surface mount. Are fixtures listed as PAR20 or A10 intended to be lamps only or light fixture replacements? For example ID#s 1048 and 1193. Answer Lamps only Are there photos available of the Wall mounted fixtures that are in the patient rooms? Answer see below In the event the fixture footprints are smaller than removed, who is responsible drywall and/or paint? Answer The Awarded Contractor. Are there any fixtures located in areas that are 12' AFF or higher? If so, can you provide additional information so we can determine if lifts or scaffolding is necessary? Answer Only a few areas have fixture that high- Ground Floor Electrical and Mechanical rooms, Pharmacy Break room, and 7th floor Mechanical space. Some may be 15 to 20 feet high. Can you provide an image and diameter for the surface drum fixtures? For example, ID # 134 in A0002B Answer 12 inches: There are several fixtures listed as 1x4 . Can you confirm that 1' is not the actual width of the existing fixture and that this is meant to describe a 4' linear type fixture which vary in width but most likely does not exceed 1 foot in width? Answer The measurement is 11 ¾ inches: A 3x3 troffer is not a standard size fixture. Can you confrim that there are 3x3 fixtures and provide an image,for example, ID # 183 in A029? Answer Yes, they are 3x3: Are light fixtures noted as Tamper Proof in Behavioral Heath treatment areas? Are these anti-ligature type? Are they vandal resistant? Please provide images if possible. Answer The new Behavioral Health on the 1st floor is excluded. It already has the required fixtures.
