Description
USPTO is conducting market research on secure Cloud Fax offerings to determine the availability of analog and digital facsimile services enabled by content-based document routing in order to simplify migration, and reduce the costs and complexities of current DID routing.
USPTO’s current on-prem RightFax system is highly available, suffering only one unplanned outage in eighteen years. The system successfully supported alternate Patents and Trademarks processing during extended primary database outage in 2018, scaling from 30k page throughput per day to 100k per day, and supporting extended business backlogs for months thereafter.
However, had a facility disruption eliminated the fax system and/or isolated HQ personnel, alternate processors that may have been distributed across available national regions could not have received or processed public customer document submissions. Therefore, USPTO is seeking information on authorized Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) Moderate and highly available cloud fax solutions capable of providing business continuity in the event of HQ regional catastrophic disruption.
While we wish to retain or enhance current service, system, and messaging (email, Teams, etc.) integrations, including automated workflow and Application Programable Interfaces (APIs) features, USPTO also desires the ability to employ content-based document routing to deliver fax and other document sources without compromising the confidentiality, availability, and integrity of sensitive customer data (intellectual property, PII and payment/PCI), made available to only those USPTO personnel authorized to process it.
