Starting in October 2025, the assistance listings within SAM.gov will be updated pursuant to the Grant Reporting Efficiency and Agreements Transparency Act of 2019 (GREAT Act) and OMB Memorandum M-24-11. Users will first notice a change of the ‘Federal Assistance Number’ label to ‘Federal Assistance ID’ as this field will now include alphanumerical characters in the identifier (e.g. 31.123 vs 31.A1A).
Next users will start to see greater depth of data specificity in the assistance listing records to increase transparency of assistance programs through the lifecycle and increase business analysis for researching possible opportunities. The full data standards are publicly available here: https://grants.gov/data-standards.
Users will be able to see these new and updated fields, as listings are updated by agencies through the end of the calendar year.
