This Notice is for planning purposes only and is not a Request for Proposal or Request for Quotation or an obligation on the part of the NIST for conducting a follow-on acquisition. NIST  does not intend to award a contract based on this Notice, or otherwise pay for the information requested. No entitlement or payment of direct or indirect costs or charges by NIST will arise as a result of submission of responses to this Notice and NIST use of such information. NIST recognizes proprietary components, interfaces and equipment, and clearly marked restricted or proprietary components, interfaces and equipment, and data included as an addendum to the non-restricted/non-proprietary information. In the absence of such identification, NIST will assume to have unlimited rights to all technical data in the information paper.

NO SOLICITATION DOCUMENTS EXIST AT THIS TIME.

NIST is seeking information on small business concerns that are capable of providing repair services for the Agie HPM600U milling machine operated by the Fabrication Technology Office (FTO) in order to bring this machine back to full operational status necessary to support FTO program activities.

SPECIFIC TASKS

Task 1: Transfer and Machine Repair

An Agie certified repair technician shall remove and repair the spindle assembly. Agie certified repair technician shall test repaired spindle and verify it is in working order prior to reinstallation. Repair technician shall reinstall the repaired spindle after making all adjustments to the machine to restore the original machine functions, accuracy, and precision. Repair technician shall correct any error codes provided by the machine. All disassembly, rigging, moving, etc. is the full responsibility of the contractor.

NIST is seeking responses from all responsible small business sources under the size standard of $11 million dollars associated with the applicable NAICS code, 811310 - Commercial and Industrial Machinery and Equipment (except Automotive and Electronic) Repair and Maintenance. Please include company’s size classification and socio-economic status in any response to this notice.

Companies able to provide such services are requested to email a detailed response describing their abilities to nicholas.crowley@nist.gov no later than the response date for this sources sought notice. The report should include any information relevant to your capabilities. Also, the following information is requested to be provided as part of the response to this sources sought notice:

  1. Name of company/companies that are authorized provide services, their addresses, and a point  of contact for the company (name, phone number, fax number and email address).
  2. Number of days, after receipt of order that is typical for delivery of services.
  3. Indication of whether the services are currently on one or more GSA Federal Supply Schedule contract or any other government-wide contracts. If so, please provide the applicable contract number(s).
  4. Indication of whether the services proposed is a commercial item currently offered in the marketplace.
  5. Any other relevant information that is not listed above which the Government should consider in developing its minimum performance requirements.
