REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI):
In accordance with Department of Defense FAR Supplement (DFARS) Procedures, Guidance, and Information (PGI) 206.302-1, the Government is issuing this RFI announcement as part of its market research. This RFI announcement is intended to determine the availability and technical capability of businesses to provide the required supplies.
BACKGROUND:
The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division (NSWC-CR) is seeking information for market research purposes for the future procurement of bead clamps (6667641). The clamps are utilized to hold the Sonar Dome Rubber Window to the hull of a DDG51 Class Destroyer.
A clamp set consists of three (3) different but similar forged shaped clamps.
One (1) full set consists of:
Type 1 clamps - Qty. 204
Type 2 clamps - Qty. 134
Type 3 clamps - Qty. 84
NAICS 332111 – The Hammer Forgings associated with these bead clamps shall be made from unfinished steel. The hammer-forged clamps are made from AISI C 1045 steel with a Normalized Material Condition. Tooling Dies will not be supplied for any future bead clamp effort thus new Hammer Dies will be required for the manufacture of the bead clamps. The bead clamps are required to be painted per the painting system specification MIL-DTL-24441 per the 6667641 drawing. All drawing dimensions would be required to comply with drawing 6667641 after the required painting system in accordance with MIL-DTL-24441 is applied. A First Article will be required on fully finished painted bead clamps prior to Government acceptance. Clamp Numbers and Heat Numbers shall be legible after MIL-DTL-24441 painting system is applied. Parts are required to be delivered in two (2) wooden boxes, with required dimensions of 48”x 38” x 28”, L x W x H, this includes 4” by 4” runners on bottom of boxes. Bead clamp sets shall not be shorted any pieces. All requested associated bead clamp parts are required for acceptance of a full set.
Material Requirements:
Tensile Strength - 95 KSI (Min)
Yield Strength - 55 KSI (Min)
Elongation (2%) - 18% (Min)
Hardness - 187 BHN (Min) w/ 4.40 Ball Diameter @ 3000 kgf.
Surface Finish of Forging is 500 microinches.
The Future Demand is estimated at 2-3 sets per year.
Drawing 6667641 will take precedence if any conflict between it and this document exists.
