Description

AMENDMENT 01 - Questions and Answers

This is a Request for Proposal (RFP) for construction services.  The USDA, Agricultural Research Service (ARS) Southeast Area (SEA) Southeastern Fruit and Tree Nut Research facility located in Byron, GA., has a requirement (subject to the availability of funds) to furnish and install a perimeter fence approximately 4.4 acres (1,703 ft) with two 10' gates.  Install an inner fence approximately 2.2 acres (1,361 ft) with two 10' gates and be quartered off.   Also construct a 10' x 10' shelter with four 4' gates.  Additionally, all fencing will have two strands of high tensile electric wire.  One at the top and another 6-10 inches off the ground. Measurements are approximate, contractor must visit location for accurate dimensions, etc.  The 1O' x 1O' shelter will be constructed of treated lumber; 4" x 4" comer post 12' length, all four sides will be constructed of 6' L x 4' H wooden panels and a 4' wire gate.   Roof will be sheet metal.

The work includes but is not limited to: The contractor shall furnish all labor, materials, and equipment and perform all work in strict accordance with these Statement of Work/Specifications for Goat Fencing and Shelter Installation.  All fencing material will be Class 1 woven wire (4" x 4" mesh) goat fencing at 48" in height.  Comer post will be wooden 6" to 7" diameter by 8' length; line post will be wooden 4" to 5" in diameter by 8' length.  Post shall be driven in 4' and will not require concrete for additional support.  Perimeter fence will have two 1O' gates installed on east side.  Interior fence will have two 10' gates installed on east side adjacent to perimeter fence gates. All gates will be installed to swing inward and outward.

The inner fencing will be quartered off for proper goat management. Quartering will be constructed of 4' fencing running from center side of inner fence to shelter with a 10' gate. Electrical fence will be single wire of high tensile strength, smooth and properly grounded.  Top wire will be attached with insulators to top of wooden post and bottom wire will be 6" to 1O" above ground attached with insulators to wooden post. Fence will be powered by a Solar Electric Fence Charger.

The 1O' x 1O' shelter will be constructed of treated lumber; 4" x 4" comer post 12' length, all four sides will be constructed of 6' L x 4' H wooden panels and a 4' wire gate. Roof will be sheet metal
