Description
1. This contract will provide fifteen (15) alternate light source and camera combination devices. The United States Army Criminal Investigation Command (USACIDC) requires a light source that is portable enough to be transported to and used at a wide variety of crime scenes. The device must be battery operated for use in scenes without power readily available. The requirement is for at least six individual bandwidths of light that are specific to a particular wavelength of light for forensic use, peaking at 365-nanometer (nm), 410 nm, 445, 480 nm, 530 nm, and 800-900 nm with no more than 10% bandwidth leakage. Further, there should be ease of tunability between the various bandwidths, and visualizing must be simplified by the use of the camera attached to the light source, thereby speeding up the finding of the best combination of bandwidth and filter for taking good photographs of the evidence prior to collection, if collection is possible. The requirement does not call for a device that requires goggles to be used, as several current models allow for. In addition to specificity, USACIDC requires a light brightness that allows for searching a large area with minimal exposure to biohazards commonly found at a crime scene and with minimal disruption of the scene while the search is performed. Currently, the contractor shall provide the kits within 180 days of order. Additional information is included in the Statement of Work.
