12970223Q0035 River (14) - Wilderness Trails, Packing
The purpose of this solicitation is to secure the services of a Packer, Packer Assistant, and stock animals to transport food, supplies and equipment, for work in the Trinity Alps Wilderness and the Yolla-Bolly Wilderness located in Northern California. The contractor shall provide the requested number of pack stock and riders on an “On Call” basis. The minimum number of riders and animals for each trip will be one packer with a saddle animal, one packer assistant with a saddle animal, and 2 pack animals. Overnight trips may be required. The contractor will need to clear trail of down trees across the trail if they are impeding access to the delivery location.
Contractor transports food and other necessary camp supplies via pack stock to established backcountry locations. Packers will be required and must have the ability to pack non-typical loads. Loads may include items such as: wooden posts and signs, food, tools, crosscut saws, 5-gallon propane bottles. Packing and unloading pack stock is the responsibility of the contractor. Contractor will prepare loads to be hauled. It is the responsibility of the contractor to ensure that food is properly stored i.e., perishable items in coolers, delicate food items protected, during transport.
Other packing services may be requested to deliver signs, posts and other materials into project locations. Packer may be requested to install directional signs within the wilderness areas.
Contractor shall be expected to adhere to all wilderness laws and regulations while performing this contract. No motorized equipment may be used within designated wilderness areas.
