Description

668-320 Construct Rehab Medicine Minor Design Project Spokane, Washington The purpose of this mod to previous pre-sol is to provide responses to the technical questions received. Would the government consider changing the NAICS Code for this project to 541330 to reflect who will be doing the work under this contract? Based on the significant Engineering Services required for this project this appears fair and appropriate.  Here is a list of some of the Engineering Services required for this project: Civil Electrical Environmental Fire Protection Mechanical Plumbing Structural Physical Security As you can see there are a significant number of Engineering Services required to complete this project with the support of an Architectural team. Response: The VA has carefully considered this request and determined that 541310 Architectural Services is the appropriate NAICS code for this procurement. The design project must react to adjacent buildings on our existing campus as well as a complex design program that is required by the VA. An Architectural Firm should be the Lead, as all early presentations should be handled by an Architectural Firm. Then they should lead a multi-discipline group of consulting engineers to reach our final goal of having fully coordinated construction drawings. This approach would be more efficient than working through an Engineering Firm that is subcontracting an Architectural Firm to do all the early work. All this early work will establish the basis for the project going forward. Therefore, it is our decision that the NAICS code for this procurement will not be changed.
