Scope of Work: Propulsion Systems Laboratory (PSL) J-57 Supply - Liquid Fuel Valve

Background

The PSL operates Pratt&Whitney J-57 jet engines as part of the combustion air heating process.  The J-57 engines are robust and capable but periodically require replacement parts to operate properly.  The Fuel Controller on the J-57 is such a part.  As the J-57 is a 6+ decades old engine, parts are no longer being manufactured.  In order to continue to operate the J-57, PSL requires the procurement of an aftermarket Liquid Fuel Valve to replace the original Fuel Controller.

Specification

The PSL J-57 replacement fuel liquid valve must satisfy the following:

      •  Flow of 52 Gallons Per Minute

      •  Flow measurement and accuracy of 3% of reading of 0.5% or full scale

      •  Built in position sensor

      •  Must be failsafe closed

      •  Fuel demand input of 4-20mA

      •  4-20mA Flow feedback

      •  4-20mA Position Feedback

      •  RS232 Communication

      •  Compatible with Jet A

      •  Certified for Class 1, Div. 1&2, Group D:T4

Deliverables

     1 .Liquid Fuel Valve as specified above with “-12” connections.

     2. Paper and electronic copies of all valve, and accessories documentation. Including, but not limited to: drawings w/parts list, operations manuals, and maintenance manuals.
