Description
This is a Notice of Intent, not a request for a quotation. A solicitation document will not be issued and quotations will not be requested.
The National Institute of Health, Clinical Center (CC) intends to award a Firm-Fixed price purchase order to Fisher Scientific Company LLC, HANOVER PARK, IL 60133-5491, on a sole source basis to procure various culture media and quality control organisms for the existing instrumentation from Fisher Scientific is needed for clinical patient care testing by the Microbiology Service in the DLM. The culture of specimens onto appropriate media is essential for isolating and identifying pathogens (i.e., bacteria, yeasts, and molds) that cause infection in NIH patients. Fisher Scientific is the only manufacturer that can provide all of the specialized media supplied by Fisher Scientific. The availability of internally validated culture media is critical for the optimal culture of infectious disease agents, which improves clinical care. Culture media must remain standardized and supplied by the same manufacturer to comply with CLIA regulations and laboratory-validated Individualized Quality Control Plans (IQCP). The Department of Laboratory Medicine (DLM) will telephone or e-mail requests for reagents and supplies on a needed basis. Period of Performance shall be for a base year of twelve (12) months with two (2) 12 months option periods from the date of the award.
This acquisition is being conducted using policies unique to the contract authority of the test program for commercial items prescribed in FAR Subpart 13.5. Interested concerns capable of providing the same or similar products or services as described in this notice may submit a capability statement outlining their capabilities. Capability Statements must be received within the time set forth in this synopsis to be considered by the Government. A determination to compete this proposed contract based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
