Description

The A/E Design-Build New Kauai CBOC is located at 3215 Kauai Veterans Memorial Highway, Lihue, Kauai, Hawai’i. The project is comprised of a design-build construction of a new Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC).

The new building shall be co-located on the same site as the Veterans Council Building. The new CBOC shall also house the Hawai’i State Office of Veterans Services, the VBA, and the VA Veterans Center. The goal of this project is to replace the existing CBOC building. The new building is to be adequately sized to meet the current and future requirements of the CBOC. 

Design-Builder to develop the design and construct the Kauai CBOC, using the concept layout as a guide, per VA and local guidelines.  The proposed CBOC will be approximately 15,000 square feet with a minimum of 75 vehicle parking spaces equipped with walk-in patient access. The CBOC visitor will use the existing Vet Council’s Parking lot and will include the co-location of outpatient care (VHA), benefits (VBA), Vet Center activities, and space for Hawaii State Office of Veterans Services.

The new CBOC must meet Federal Seismic Criteria. Also, the design and construction of the Kauai CBOC will comply with all prevailing VA standards and specifications to include safety and physical security, life safety and ADA (American Disabilities Act). The CBOC is considered an ancillary facility and will be designed to Life-Safety standards
