STATEMENT OF NEED GENERAL: James A. Haley Veterans Hospital (JAHVH) New Bed Tower. 13000 Bruce B. Downs Blvd requires wheelchairs/transport chairs. The patient transport chair will support the patient throughout the New Bed Tower. BACKGROUND: The JAHVH New Bed Tower Acute Care Services requires a patient transport chair. PURPOSE: The patient transport chair/wheelchair is used to assist and support patient that comes through the building. It is crucial equipment for delivering patient care for the Acute Care Services SCOPE: JAHVH New Bed Tower Bldg. 100 is requesting for patient transport chair. PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS: This is a name-brand-only requirement. Patient Transport Chair Staxi Ranger Patient transport wheelchair with a capacity of 800 lbs. Armrests: constructed with steel oval tubing covered in a non-porous sleeve. Lift for easy transfer. Footrest: front of front caster cap to front of footrest with footrest in usage position. Frame: formed oval tubing, durable robotic welding, and mar-resistant paint. Wheels: 2-1/8" composite wheel, 8" diameter, non-marking. Casters: 5" urethane, sealed bearing, non-marring.
