Description of Work

 “THIS PRESOLICITATION NOTICE IS ISSUED FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY TO PROVIDE AN OPPORTUNITY FOR VENDORS TO ASSESS THE PROJECT SITE PRIOR TO INCLEMENT WEATHER OR SEASONAL CLOSURES AND PRIOR TO ISSUANCE OF THE SOLICITATION. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL/QUOTE OR BID. The Forest Service anticipates issuing a full solicitation at a time when the project site will be unavailable due to seasonal closures/weather. Interested vendors are encouraged to visit the site for a full understanding and, if desired, take photos or videos.”

  1. This project includes the improvement of the Kalamazoo Campground on the Ely Ranger District on the Humboldt - Toiyabe National Forest.

    The work includes, but is not limited to:
    1. Removal and disposal of existing site furnishings.
    2. Obliterating, scarifying, and re-contouring existing roads and paths.
    3. Construction and reconstruction of campground roads, pullouts, parking areas and back-in spurs.
    4. Constructing new aggregate pathways.
    5. Installing new site features, including cattle guards, fencing, signs, site wheelstops, bulletin board, unit markers, and fee tube.
    6. Construction of new aggregate surface family units with site furniture and aggregate tent pads and aggregate paths.

The Government does not intend to award a contract(s) based solely on this site visit nor does it intend to pay for any costs incurred in response to this announcement.  The intent of this notice is to ensure that prospective vendors may see the areas prior to heavy snowfall and issuing the solicitation.  This is not a final solicitation or scope of work .  This project is in draft and is subject to change when the solicitation comes out

Site Visit Location

The project is located in the Ely Ranger District of the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, White Pine County, NV, in Section 30, T 20 N, R 66 E.  It is located approximately 27 miles northeast of Ely, NV.  The project may be accessed from traveling south on US-50 (Great Basin Blvd.) for approximately 28 miles, then turn left on NV-892 north for approximately 38 miles, then turn left onto Kalamazoo Road for approximately 3.5 miles. *Note: COR Recommends traveling the longer route (south) rather than trying to go over the mountain if coming from Ely, Nevada.

Magnitude of the Proposed Project:  In accordance with FAR 36.204, the estimated magnitude of construction for this project is between $250,000 and $500,000.

Offerors or quoters are urged and expected to inspect the site where services are to be performed and to satisfy themselves regarding all general and local conditions that may affect the cost of contract performance, to the extent that the information is reasonably obtainable. In no event shall failure to inspect the site constitute grounds for a claim after contract award.
