Description

Background: The Cometa Grinder (Barcode X1384), located within CCAD’s Building 8 Machine Shop, was manufactured in 1986 and is 35 years old. The expected useful life of a grinding machine is approximately 15 years old. Due to the age of the Cometa, repairs will likely become more frequent, requiring longer down times and costing more due to reduced supply of replacement parts. Further, the Cometa Grinder is used to work T700 G.G. Rotors and is a primary backup for T700 Compressor Rotors. Thus a replacement machine is necessary to continue this capability in the CCAD machine shop.

Purpose:   This Statement of Work (SOW) establishes the minimum requirements to procure and install a Universal Grinding Machine to replace the Cometa Grinder in the CCAD Machine Shop. The contractor shall show that the equipment has the salient characteristics required per paragraph 3.1 and 3.2. of this SOW by providing general equipment design drawings. After award of the contract and with deliver of the Grinding Machine, the contractor shall include these drawings with any updates per paragraph 3.4. The Contractor shall coordinate delivery date of parts and date of commissioning with the Government Technical Point of Contact and Contracting Officer.
