Description

The U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Alabama is requesting open market quotes to construct an Entry Security Screening Station (ESSS) at the Hugo L. Black U.S. Courthouse, 1729 5th Avenue North, Birmingham, Alabama. The primary requirements are as follows:

  • Modify the current ESSS and adjacent UDDC public display space to reconfigure and expand the ESSS;
  • Demolish, remove, and dispose of all waste materials;
  • Complete any necessary hazardous material abatement;
  • All flooring, doors, furniture and hardware are to be protected;
  • Finish all surfaces to match current, including sanding, priming, painting/staining, molding, finishings, as necessary;
  • Comply with the Architectural Barriers Act Accessibility Standard (ABAAS);
  • Install necessary infrastructure to support anticipated security equipment;
  • Install automatic egress gating;
  • Tie all controls into ongoing Physical Access Control System (PACS);
  • All tools/waste are the contractor's responsibility, and the courthouse must be accessible and presentable during working hours (building dumpsters shall not be used for disposal)

All bidders may request a site visit and will be accommodated.

An Initial Construction Documents will set the framework and general scope of work for this project. Due to the sensitivity of the courthouse drawings and the Court's strict security standards, the Initial Construction Documents will not be included with the Request for Quotation or the Statement of Work. It will be provided to all potential bidders, upon request. Additionally, Final Construction Drawings will be provided to all requesters by August 2, 2024.
