Description

Preventive Maintenance for Gym Equipment Base + 4 Option Years Background. The VA Maryland Health Care System (VAMHCS) Geriatric Research Education Clinical Center GRECC) investigates non-pharmaceutical lifestyle interventions to improve health in older adults. This includes diet and exercise projects, to support these projects a contract to maintain the exercise equipment in two gyms is required. Scope. The GRECC operates two gyms for its research and clinical projects. One gym is located at Baltimore VAMC 209 West Fayette Street, Baltimore, MD 21201 and the other gym is located at Loch Raven VAMC 3901 The Alameda, Baltimore, MD 21218. Between the two gyms there are 20 treadmills, 18 stationary bikes, 10 recumbent cross trainers, 5 upper extremity resistance devices, 13 lower extremity resistance devices, and 2 combination resistance devices. This contactor shall keep these devices in good working condition for the life cycle of each piece of equipment. The work will take place at the two gyms. Place of Performance 209 West Fayette Street Baltimore, MD 21201 3901 The Alameda Baltimore, MD 21218 Period of Performance The period of performance is 12 months, 7/1/2023 6/30/2024, with four additional Option years, for a total of 60 months with One preventive maintenance visit per Quarter. The service technician(s) will inspect for tightness and alignment, inspect moving parts for signs of abnormal wear and apply lubricant where product instructions require. The technician will inspect the overall product integrity to confirm compliance with the expected outcomes. Deliverables: Preventive Maintenance visits for equipment in two gyms to be completed once a quarter excluding federal holidays. Performance Monitoring The GRECC Administrative Officer will monitor and assess performance on an ongoing basis to ensure the gym equipment is kept in proper working order. All work will take place at 209 West Fayette Street, Baltimore, MD 21201 and at 3901 The Alameda, Baltimore, MD 21218. Other Pertinent Information or Special Considerations a. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities. The complexity of work to be performed under this contract is such that it requires training in maintaining a multitude of devices used in physical activity interventions. b. Identification of Possible Follow-on Work: Based on the results of the work under this contract, it is possible that more gym equipment may be acquired and the scope of work may be modified or expanded. Should such a need arise, the CO will submit a modification request. c. Inspection and Acceptance Criteria. The COR will inspect the Contractor s work on an ongoing basis and based on the recommendations of GRECC gym staff only the work that matches the current rigorous criteria for quality of objective scientific experimental research will be accepted. Successful operation and functionality of the equipment will determine the acceptance criteria. Risk Control There are no risks associated with this contract that go beyond standard research safety practices. Vendor will be notified of all aspects of safe conduct of research. All training certificates will be kept on file, and the Contractor s required trainings will be continuously monitored by the PI of the project the vendor is supporting.
