SUBJECT: Market research is being conducted to identify potential sources that may possess the expertise, capabilities, and experience for production of C-5M left and right hand Thrust Reversers.

On the ground, the thrust reverser system slows the airplane, reducing the distance required to safely stop during landing. In the air, the thrust reversers on the inboard engines can be deployed to aid in rapid descent.
Impediment to Competition: The original equipment manufacturer for both thrust reversers is General Electric (CAGE 062W0). The Government does not own any data, drawings, schematics, or any other releasable technical data in support of this requirement. As a result, General Electric is the only known source with adequate knowledge of performance requirements and possession of the required technical data and capabilities needed to produce these items and ensure compatibility of the equipment.
INTEREST The DLA/AWB Contracting Office intends to award a sole source contract to General Electric for the manufacture of the C-5M Left and Right Hand Thrust Reverser in support of the C-5M Program. Other interested parties may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement no later than 9 November 2022 by email to Vernell Ward vernell.ward@us.af.mil and cc Jimmy Hicks jimmy.hicks@us.af.mil The Government intends to procure these items using Other Than Full and Open Competition as prescribed by FAR 6.302-1, Only One Responsible Source and No Other Supplies or Services Will Satisfy Agency Requirements.
