Description
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Wilmington District requires a contract to:

- Clean and repaint girders and support members on bridge steel superstructure as required by the contract drawings and specifications.
- John H Kerr spillway bridge has 22 spans. Each span is over one of the dam’s 22 tainter gates. Each of the 22 spans has two main girders.
- Work will consist of cleaning existing steel girder surfaces by blasting (SSPC SP 5) or other approved method as needed (SSPC SP 3). The existing paint is a lead-based paint.
- Repaint with the epoxy paint system specified in the contract (21-AZ).
- Work will require under bridge work access platform and containment system.
- Contractor must have certification from the Society for Protective Coatings (SSPC) QP-1 and QP-2 with experience in lead abatement.
- Approach Roadway Resurfacing.
- The approach roadway surface is a concrete surface on the top of the concrete dam’s non-overflow monoliths. There are eight non-overflow monoliths to the west of the spillway bridge and eleven non-overflow monoliths to the east of the spillway bridge. seven monoliths that have head gates. Each monolith is 50-feet in length along the centerline of the dam. The width of the roadway surface from curb to curb is 24-feet.
- The top six inches of the approach roadway surface of 19 non-overflow monoliths will be excavated and disposed of offsite. Excavation of the roadway surface will be accomplished by an approved method such as saw cutting. Rams attached to excavators will not be allowed due to the roadway surface being on top of a mass concrete dam.
- New concrete and reinforcing will replace the excavated concrete as required by the contract drawings and specifications.
This solicitation is a 100% Small Business set-aside. The contract issued will be Firm Fixed Price. The Magnitude of Construction of this project is between $1,00,000.00 and $5,000,000.00. This solicitation will be issued in electronic format only and will be available on or about 28 July 2022. The bid opening date will be specified in the solicitation when it is issued. No additional media (CD-ROM, floppy disks, facsimiles, etc.) will be provided. Paper copies of this solicitation will not be available. Other methods of requesting a package will not be honored.
