Description

The following synopsis is the description of a project being posted as a Sources Sought to determine availability of all interested and eligible sources within the industry.  

Synopsis:  For the project noted above at Chillicothe VA Medical Center, Chillicothe, Ohio the contractor shall completely prepare the site for building operations, including demolition and removal of existing items, and furnish labor, materials, and equipment necessary to complete all new construction which includes, but is not limited to, architectural, electrical, and plumbing as shown on drawings and specifications.

The general scope of this project includes modernizing updates to the Recreation Hall (Building 9) to include safety/security upgrades to windows and doors, a replacement canopy, and curbed barriers at the main entrance. Updates to the heated indoor swimming pool (Building 247) include relocating or replacing most of the pumping equipment, piping, and temperature controls, changing to an automated chemical metering system, rerouting of excess water drain points and visually refreshing the tile and drains surrounding the pool surface.

The work shall include infection control and dust prevention measures as well as construction noise, vibration management and asbestos abatement, and will include phasing to accommodate the Medical Center’s on-going operations.  Multiple outages that must be pre-coordinated with the medical center will also be required.   

**** Solicitation History: This project was initially solicited as a Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business set-aside entitled Renovate Therapeutic Pool and Recreation Hall. It was subsequently solicited as a Small Business set-aside entitled Renovate Heated Indoor Swimming Pool and Recreation Hall. The project (if solicited again) shall be full and open competition. The title and description of the project have been updated; however, the general scope of the project remains unchanged. ****
