Bank accounts and related banking services that meet the requirements for both the DOE and Alliance are needed. The financial institution providing these accounts and services will be compensated by fee to cover the cost of servicing the accounts.
A minimum of three (3) accounts will be connected for managing federal funds for NREL. One (1) of the three accounts will be a general fund account and will collect or distribute funds to the two (2) other NREL accounts. On a daily basis, the bank will distribute or collect funds from the U.S. Treasury Automated Standard Application for Payment (ASAP) system. This system is utilized by the Federal Government for paying grants, contracts, and other programs.
In addition to the NREL bank accounts there will be at least six (6) accounts for managing Alliance funds. Total accounts will be nine (9); however, additional accounts may be added or removed based on need.
