Description

Background

WEAC’s uses a variety of radioactive material per ORA's NRC License #20-08361-01. This acquisition is to ensure WEAC has a written Fire Protection Program in place accordance National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Standard 801, Fire Protection for Facilities Handling Radioactive Materials

Objectives

The Under NFPA 801, the Fire Protection Program shall address policies, standards, and procedures related to all aspects of building fire safety, including, but not limited to the following:

  • Fire protection objectives
  • Responsible parties
  • Fire and other emergency response protocols
  • Staff training
  • Fire drills
  • Shelter-in-place messages and protocols
  • Fire safety systems inspection, test, and maintenance
  • Housekeeping policies
  • Hazardous materials control
  • Hot work and other permits
  • Pre-incident planning, in cooperation with the Safety and Facility group for addressing potential radiological release incidents and mitigation practices.

Vendor must work with WEAC contacts to create a draft Fire Protection Program Document that addresses the requirements of NFPA 801.  

Scope of Services

1. Develop a template for a Fire Protection Program that the WEAC can use to address administrative issues identified in the Fire Hazards Analysis.

2. The template will also include/ identify the content needed to comply with the requirements of NFPA 801. Contractor shall provide technical content based on the decisions reached in the FHA process. Full facility-specific information to be developed internally by WEAC staff.

3. Specific deliverable to include a MS-Word formatted document to allow expansion and editing by WEAC.
