127EAX23Q0036 – Guajalote Material Source Site Development & Stockpiling  

Description of Work:  The scope of this project is to develop the Guajalote Flat Quarry for road surfacing aggregate production.  Work consists of clearing and grubbing, topsoil striping and stockpiling, rock blasting and excavating, rock crushing and stockpiling. All work must comply with the Standard Specifications For Construction of Roads and Bridges on Federal Highway Projects (FP-14) and Forest Service Supplemental Specifications (FSSS). The surface coarse aggregate gradation to be produced is the “G” grading shown in Table 703-3 (See Drawings and FSSS). The contractor is responsible for providing all equipment, supplies, labor, and incidentals to perform the work described herein. The contractor shall be responsible to obtain all permits as required by Arizona Department of Environmental Quality for the contractor’s operation methods. There is no water or any other utilities within the quarry boundary.  

Location:  Guajalote Flat Quarry is located on previously undisturbed land within the Patagonia Mountain range on the Sierra Vista Ranger District of the Coronado National Forest.

From Nogales, AZ take State Route 82 (East Patagonia Highway) 4 miles to Beyerville, AZ. Travel east for 13 miles on NFSR 61 (Washington Montezuma Pass). Travel north on NFSR 49 (South Harshaw Avenue) for 4.5 miles, entrance to newly constructed quarry access road is on the north side of the road, take access road 1,100 feet to the project site. The coordinates of the intersection of NSFR49 (South Harshaw Avenue) and the quarry access road is Latitude: 31°25'51.54"N Longitude: 110°42'52.04"W. The centroid of the Guajalote Quarry is Latitude: 31°25'58.90"N Longitude: 110°42'41.75"W.

Basis for Award:  The Government Anticipates awarding a Firm Fixed-Price Contract using RFQ Best Value-Technically Acceptable:  Award will be made to the offer that meets or exceeds the requirements contained herein, at the price that is most advantageous to the government will be determined to be the best value. Price reasonableness will be determined by using competitive solicitation process.
