Description

Amendment 0002 to add attached Pit Location Map for 4 USDA Forest Service pits. See attached amendment 0002 for answer to alternative bid question.    

Amendment 0001 to add Geotechnical Investigation Report. See report now attached.  

Chequamegon/Nicolet Nursery Bridge Project Description

Project is a total small business set-aside under NAICS Code 237310 $45M. 

Project magnatude is betweeen $1M and $3M.

Project location is near Butternut, WI 

Full replacement of existing 5 span sawn timber bridge with a new 3 span bridge.  New bridge will consist of a steel H-pile with poured reinforced concrete wall abutment and pier substructure, a glulaminated treated timber girder superstructure, a glulaminated treated timber deck with glulaminated treated timber rails and an asphalt paved wearing surface.

  • Allow steel angle diaphragms
  • Item 55901 Membrane Waterproofing to be an optional bid item.

Alternative superstructure/ deck/ and railing combinations are allowed.  All must meet HL-93 loading requirements, L/500 max deflection, match clear width geometry of planned bridge, structure depth not to exceed planned dimension (48”).  If structure depth is less than planned, hold top of substructure elevations as planned and lower roadway elevations accordingly.

  • Rail must be timber TL2 minimum but alternative designs may be accepted
  • Allow dowel laminated deck panels with ship-lap joints in lieu of glulam
  • Allow steel girders in lieu of glulam
  • Allow panel-lam longitudinal timber slab
  • Allow solid sawn
  • Allow concrete I – beam
  • If alternative superstructure/deck/railings is proposed, provided alternative preliminary plans and alternative bid schedule along with bid or proposal for planned structure.
