Description
This project includes the reconfiguration of the existing fuel station’s access drive, installing a concrete fuel containment area under the canopy, and minor repairs to the canopy. The contractor shall provide complete design and specification, demolition, renovation, and construction in support of the facility, and other disciplines.Contractor will be required to coordinate and schedule design and construction to avoid conflicts with the adjacent project consisting of demolition of Building 91 and relocation and installation of wastewater pump station and wastewater sewer pipe. Berry Road is accessed by the Fire Department, whose facilitie are located on the east side of Berry road. The intent of this project is for Berry road to remain open during the life of this project. Fuller Road is the access road to the base air facilities and shall not be impacted.
The purpose of this project is to:
a. Provide a more efficient, resilient, and mission effective Centroid Fuel Station by updating the materials and integrating the latest design standards to the improvements.
b. Demolish the existing pavement. Existing drive geometry cannot accommodate a WB-67 vehicle. Install a new access drive that can accommodate an AASHTO Standard WB-67 truck.
c. Repair/Replace corroded components of existing canopy structure (Building 94-C). Clean and repaint metal support structures. Canopy to remain.d4. Provide a concrete containment area within the perimeters of the canopy to contain a minimum of 2,000 gallons of fuel in the event of spillage.
e. Installation of a drainage system for the containment area, with a control valve to be monitored and operated by an on-site personnel. This system will discharge to an existing dry retention area west of the fuel station.
f. Coordinating design and construction efforts with Project 1 UST replacement project that removes two (2) 10,000 gallon fuel UST’s and installs two (2) 5,000 gallon fuel UST’s, along with new remote fill systems with electrical and piping.
g. Coordinating design and construction efforts with proposed sanitary lift station relocation and building 091 demolition project north of and adjacent to the fuel station.
h. Locating existing underground water, sanitary, electric, fiber optic/communication lines that may be affected during construction. Utilities not directly associated with the operation of the fuel station shall remain in operation during construction.
i. Coordinating with Contracting Officer and NAS Meridian PWD for impacts to Base Operations during constructionj. Observing safety requirements and protocols in and around the Naval Base.
k. Project limits are within the Clear Zone of Runway 01L-19R. All field work and construction must be approved by Contracting Officer. This includes, but not limited to, submitting equipment and height of equipment to be used on project.
