Description

SCOPE OF CONTRACT:
The Contractor shall furnish all equipment and personnel necessary to remove and replace the
existing Wire-Faced Retaining Wall with government furnished Hilfiker Wall material.
The Contractor shall furnish all materials not provided by the government to complete
the project. (See Section G)
Work includes: Remove and dispose of the existing AC surface, remove and stockpile the
aggregate base, excavate the existing MSE structure, dispose of all steel and fabric
encasement materials, prepare the structure base, construct the new Government
Furnished MSE structure with the retained rock facia including an upper and lower
drain system, Backfill as needed to the sub-base level, replace the augmented road base,
place a 3” course of hot asphalt, and install object markers.
Specific Requirements for the Base Items are:
• All existing AC and/or chip seal pavement is to be removed and disposed of away from
government land. (See Section H)
• Excavate the existing MSE structure. Remove the geo-fabric and metal WW cages and
dispose of away from government land.
• Prepare a base for and construct the new Government Furnished MSE structure as
shown on the drawings. Also include installation of contractor supplied lower and
upper drain system.
• Place and compact suitable fill over the MSE structure to the appropriate level for
reconstruction of the new paved road section. Place and compact a six-inch course of
aggregate base. Clean base material previously removed from the excavation may be
reused here up to 50%.
• Apply a prime coat to compacted aggregate base and a tack coat to cut surfaces of
remaining AC pavement.
• Placing, shaping, and compacting hot-mix asphalt concrete to produce a single
compacted 3” course.
• Traffic control for public access and administrative travel.

PROJECT LOCATION:
The project is located on the Feather River Ranger District of the Plumas National Forest,
California. FSR 22N94 runs along the Hartman Bar Ridge south of the Middle Fork of the
Feather River. The road intersects with FSR 22N27 7.2 miles east of the community of Feather
Falls, CA. Access from the east (Quincy) is via PC 511 & 514 at Little Grass Valley Res. Near
La Porte, CA

MAGNITUDE OF CONSTRUCTION PROJECT:
The price range for this contract is: $100,000.00 to $250,000.00.
