Description
REVISED - SOURCES SOUGHT
Revisions being made to the original sources sought to clarify that the government IS NOT seeking contractors to “replace equipment consisting of roof mounted exhaust fans, auger/screw sections, hanger bearings, geamotors, metal grate panels, metal flashing and counter flashing, replacement of the dry pine sprinkler system, upgrade of the existing fire alarm control panel.” Instead this sources sought was intended to seek feedback from industry professionals to determine whether they have had experience with using non-Wheelabrator brand name auger sections, bearings and metal grating which are capable of full functional interface with Wheelabrator electrical distribution (electronic controllers) and blast media recovery systems. It is the government’s understanding that companies other than Wheelabrator, would have difficulties in providing replacement parts for augers, bearings and gratings due to the proprietary drawings and specifications which belong to Wheelabrator for the electrical distribution and blast media recovery systems. Additionally, it is the Government’s understanding that any company who would attempt to align these non-Wheelabrator parts with the Wheelabrator system would have to re-engineer these parts and likely cause interface issues with the existing Wheelabrator systems which in turn would cause the system to lose functionality.
In response to this sources sought, the Government is requesting the following information:
- Are there contractors who have been successful in re-engineering/retrofitting parts to align and interface with Wheelabrator systems?
- Does industry believe there is low risk to using non-Wheelabrator parts with a Wheelabrator system? In other words, does industry believe the likelihood of interface systems issues is low or non-existent?
- Has industry been successful in obtaining drawings and specifications from Wheelabrator which they have then used to re-engineer parts as described above (auger sections, bearings and metal grating) which have successfully interfaced with a Wheelabrator electrical distribution and blast media recovery system?
- Any other information as to why there may or may not be concerns with using non-Wheelabrator parts with a Wheelabrator system.
