Description
Crane Load Test, Jennings Randolph Lake Project, Elk Garden, West Virginia, Baltimore District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
C.1 Statement of Work: The Contractor will provide all equipment, weights, riggers, and labor to load test two 20-ton cranes in the intake tower @ 125% equal to 50,000lbs. Both cranes on located in the intake tower, one 20-ton overhead crane is on floor level 1514 and the 20-ton end pivot JIB is at the bottom of the tower at level 1289. The weights will have to be lowered to the bottom of the tower by the top crane after it has been tested. The load test will meet local statutory requirements for load testing and the frequency of this test set by regulatory jurisdiction. Visual inspection to confirm existence and correctness of crane capacity markings and labels. Operational test of the crane by checking all motions with low speed and maximum speed without load. Load test for the hoist by lifting the nominal load off the ground and ensuring all gears rotate 360 degrees. Load test for the brake by lowering the nominal load, stopping, and verifying brake holds the load. Load test for traveling machinery by moving crane and trolley with nominal load to all extreme positions to check for abnormalities
