The engine oil cooler provides a critical function by removing surplus heat from the AGT1500 engine and protects the engine oil and internal components from premature wear or failure. In addition to the unique heat rejection requirements at specific air and oil pressures and temperatures defined by the Critical Item Development Specification, the engine oil cooler also incorporates a by-pass valve. The valve shall allow oil to by-pass the cooler core at temperatures below 150 °F and the valve shall be fully closed at 190 °F at pressures less than 40 psi.
