Request for Information (RFI)
Savannah River Nuclear Solutions, LLC (SRNS), which manages and operates portions of the Savannah River Site (SRS) under a Department of Energy (DOE) prime contract, seeks information from parties capable of providing a turbomolecular pump to be used within a glovebox the Tritium Extraction Facility with an associated controller. This RFI is issued to assist with finding potential suppliers interested in this solicitation.
The SRS complex is located approximately 15 miles south of Aiken, South Carolina and is 310 contiguous square miles.
Scope Summary: Provide materials, services and expertise for design, fabrication, inspection, testing, documentation, delivery, installation support, and technical services for two (2) turbomolecular pumps and associated controllers. As a frame of reference, the facility is currently using a Pfeiffer TMU 400MPH turbomolecular pump with an external Pfeiffer TCM 1601 controller.
Requirements:
- The inlet connection of the turbomolecular pump shall be DN 160 CF Flange.
- The outlet connection of the turbomolecular pump shall be DN 25 ISO-KF.
- The pumping speed shall be as follows:
a. Hydrogen 280 L/S
b. Nitrogen 400 L/S
c. Helium 350 L/S
4. The turbomolecular pump shall have an ultimate pressure as close to 1E-8 MBAR as possible.
5. The turbomolecular pump shall be water-cooled.
6. The turbomolecular pump shall not contain hydrocarbons or plastics.
7. The turbomolecular pump shall be of all metal construction.
8. The on/off control shall be performed external to the pump.
9. The bearings on the pump shall be Maglev Bearings.
10. The pump shall be capable of running in a radiation environment.
11. The controller shall be externally mounted.
A supplier's response to the RFI does not guarantee they will be selected to participate in the RFP.
Suppliers responding to this RFI shall include evidence of the following:
- Manufacturer Specification sheet
- Standard Lead Time for Delivery
- Budgetary Estimated Cost
