Description
The contractor shall visually locate noxious weeds and conduct treatments by spot spraying approximately 400 acres of herbicide in remote areas across some 764 acres total of the Cimarron National Grassland Ranger District at Morton County, near Elkhart, Kansas (see maps provided Attachments Map Block 3A and Map Block 4A). Dominant vegetation consists of tamarisk with stems ranging from 0.5” – 8” diameter at 6” above the ground, and most stems smaller than 2.5” diameter at 6” above the ground. However, there are stems that are larger than 8” located within the treatment area. The treatment area is on nearly flat terrain with a slope of less than 10 percent. Many of the Tamarisk plants have been previously treated either by spraying, cutting, pulling, or burned. Small patches or individual cottonwood and willow are also present; only the tamarisk will be treated chemically.
