                                                  NOTICE OF INTENT FOR SINGLE SOURCE JUSTIFICATION

The purpose of this announcement is to inform industry of the basis of the USDA Forest Service,  Procurement and Property Services Division, Intermountain Zone Region, Contract Service Area 5 decision to contract with a selected source when it is determined in the best interest of the Forest Service. This procurement is single sourced to Montezuma County based on the following:  

Montezuma County (UEI W5GJQGG56WN3) is a State Government entity that has a binding contractual agreement with the USDA Forest Service authorizing the severance, extraction and/or removal of mineral materials and gravel situated in the San Juan National Forest.  This includes providing crushed gravel from the Beaver Rim Pit located in Montezuma County.  Montezuma County has the necessary personnel, equipment and permits to operate in the area and will stockpile the agreed upon amount specifically marked for the Forest Services’ use at the negotiated cost per ton.  Amounts that exceed the agreement percentage are placed on a separate contract.   

This announcement is for informational purposes only and is NOT a Solicitation/Request for Proposal. This requirement will be awarded to Montezuma County and is NOT available for full and open competition. All questions pertaining to this announcement should be addressed in writing to the Contracting Specialist, Isabel Wimbish, Isabel.wimbish@usda.gov, no later than Friday, May 20, 2022.

(12) Description. This is a single source justified solicitation/procurement for 58,333 tons of aggregate for the San Juan National Forest.

(13) Place of Contract Performance. The delivery location is the same as the place of performance. Contractor will crush in stockpile near the Beaver Rim Pit in section marked for Forest Service stockpiles located From the Dolores Ranger District office, travel west on state highway 184 for 0.4 miles. Turn right onto CO-145 for 1.6 miles, turn left on 11th street. 11th street becomes county road 31 and NFSR 526 continue for 16 miles. Turn Left on to NFSR 526 B, Where the Beaver Rim Pit is located.
