Description

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Acquisition and Grants Office (AGO), Eastern Acquisition Division (EAD), Norfolk, Virginia on behalf of the National Ocean Service (NOS), National Geodetic Survey (NGS), in support of the Coastal Mapping Program (CMP), Aeronautical Survey Program (ASP), and Gravity for the Redefinition of the American Vertical Datum (GRAV-D) project, is conducting market research to determine potential sources to provide Architect-Engineer (A-E) coastal mapping services.

The NOS, NGS is responsible for producing accurate maps and charts of the nation’s entire shoreline. The nautical chart has been called the most fundamental of navigation instruments making the chart’s accuracy and completeness essential for maritime safety. A nautical chart depicts water depths, shoreline, topographic features, navigational hazards, aids to navigation, landmarks, vertical (overhead) clearances and other navigational information. Vessel navigators use charts to determine their position, the location of their destination, and the safest and most economical route between these points. The NGS ASP is also responsible for remote sensing and ground surveys. Airport products and services are critical to the safety of aircraft in the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) National Airspace System (NAS) and on the ground.

Contractor support services are necessary to conduct coastal mapping and provide NOAA with modern, accurate coastal mapping and geospatial data which will be utilized to update NOAA’s nautical charts.
