Description
The U.S Navy uses the MK 18 Unmanned Underwater Vehicles (UUV) Family of Systems (FoS) for a variety of activities. The Remote Environmental Monitoring Unit System (REMUS) UUVs are manufactured by Huntington Ingalls Industries Unmanned Systems Inc. (HII Unmanned) (who purchased Hydroid Inc.in 2020). REMUS is sold commercially and to foreign militaries. The MK 18 UUV FoS is a U. S. Navy configuration of the REMUS based UUV. All MK 18 UUV FoS vehicles are REMUS variants, but not all REMUS variants are MK 18 UUV FoS vehicles.
