Description

The University of California, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory requests a proposal for fabrication and delivery of a stainless steel tank  in support of the Eos project.

The goal of the Eos project is to construct a few-ton scale detector to demonstrate the impact of novel technology on detection of MeV-scale particle interactions. This prototype has the potential to influence the design of future detectors for both fundamental physics and nonproliferation applications. The detector will consist of a stainless steel outer tank (the subject of this solicitation) which will contain an array of photomultiplier tubes, surrounding an inner acrylic vessel. The outer tank will be filled with ultra-pure water, and the tank’s load bearing capability, structural integrity, cleanliness, and leak-tight nature are critical for this application.
