Description
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention intends to award a sole source firm fixed price purchase order to Edgetech Instruments, Inc. for consulting services for four Edgetech DewMaster hygrometers.
This procurement is for a direct replacement of existing, but worn out, equipment. The older model hygrometers are no longer available and will be replaced with the current generation of instrument from the same manufacturer in order to avoid lengthy downtime in respirator approval testing. The DewMaster hygrometer has the same shape, design, accuracy, and communication protocols as the older DewPrime II hygrometers that are currently in use in the lab. The DewMaster can be easily swapped with the existing DewPrime II that that lab needs to replace. Purchasing a DewPrime II would have been preferable, but it is no longer commercially available as a new device, and parts are limited. The DewMaster is the best option, since it was designed specifically to replace the DewPrime II. NIOSH procedures, test systems, and trainings are all set up specifically for this device. No other device will be able to seamlessly integrate with the existing test systems and procedures.
