Description
The purpose of this contract is to provide Command History documentation support to the XVIII Airborne Corps. Per AR 870-5 paragraph 4-10, the XVIII Airborne Corps maintains an archive of documents in several media pertaining to The XVIII Airborne Corps, its major subordinate activities, its major missions, and Fort Bragg, North Carolina. This archive enables the History Office to perform its other regulatory missions such as: documenting the activities and accomplishment of XVIII Airborne Corps; providing accurate historical research and analysis support to the Commanding General and his staff; and responding to historical inquiries. The Command Historian requirement is mandated under Title 10 Sec 4831 (Custody of Departmental Records and Property) and Title 44 USC Sec 3101 (Records Management). The Secretary of the Army executes these missions as designated in
ATP 1-20 (Military History Operations). Historical data is lost in the absence of a Command Historian. Accurately documenting and publicizing the actions of an Army Corps require skilled and dedicated manpower, otherwise unavailable to the XVIII Airborne Corps Chief of Staff Office.
