INDUSTRY DAY DETAILS:

WHO: Child Nutririon Programs

WHAT:  FY24 Industry Day

WHERE:  Industry Days will be conducted virturally.

WHEN: March 14th 2024 from 1:00 - 3:00 pm CST

WHY: This event is to provide an opportunity for industry to better understand the requirements of the Child Nutrition Programs. The Child Nutrition Programs include the following programs:

  • The National School Lunch (NSLP) and School Breakfast Programs (SBP) provide benefits in public and private elementary, middle and secondary schools, and in residential childcare institutions.
  • The Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) provides food for the nutritional well-being of young children and adults in day care homes and non-residential centers, and for children and teenagers in at-risk afterschool care programs and in emergency shelters.
  • The Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) provides nutritious meals to children in low-income areas and in residential camps during the summer months, and at other times when school is not in session.
  • In participating elementary schools, the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP) provides fresh fruits and vegetables outside of the regular meal service to all students.
  • The Farm to School Program provides support for integrating local foods into Child Nutrition Program meals.
  • The Special Milk Program provides fluid milk to any participating public or non-profit private school or childcare institution that does not participate in other federally subsidized meal programs.
  • As part of our collaborative efforts to enhance USDA's summer nutrition programs, the Summer Electronic Benefit Transfer Program for Children (Summer EBT) will officially launch in summer 2024. Summer EBT provides grocery-buying benefits to low-income families with school-aged children when schools are closed for the summer. More than 30 million children across America could benefit from Summer EBT.
