Description
The Government is conducting market research to develop and test material changes for seven specific part numbers associated with the conveyor guides (10029084, 10029085, 10029098, 10029211-1, 10029211-2, 10029211-3, 10029211-4) within the F-15E Ammunition Container, NSN 1005-01-298-2522, Part Number 100029110.
Conveyor Guides (10029084, 10029085, 10029098, 10029211-1, 10029211-2, 10029211-3, 10029211-4)
The Ammunition Structure Assembly Container is for the storage of 20mm caliber ammunition in its single bay design. Live and expended rounds are moved through the ammunition container by an endless loop carrier belt assembly. Rollers attached to the ammunition carriers, guide and control the carrier belt assembly though parallel tracks within the ammunition container. Complete round control is maintained by the cradling action of these ammunition carriers during straight line runs. Turn around sprockets are used to control the carrier at turn around points. Turn around cartridge guides provide guidance to each round as the round travels through the ammunition carriers, which open during turn around. The three sprockets beneath the second loop are the loading access unit which provides an interface for loading and downloading the system. These requirements are military unique and are not available in the commercial market sector.
The engineering service will involve the development and testing of material changes for seven specific part numbers associated with the conveyor guides (10029084, 10029085, 10029098, 10029211-1, 10029211-2, 10029211-3, 10029211-4) within the F-15E Ammunition Container, NSN 1005-01-298-2522, Part Number 100029110. The material change will involve replacing the existing A356.0 Aluminum Alloy conveyor guides with 32ea Grade 5 Titanium (Ti-6A1-4V) conveyor guides for each F-15E Ammunition Container. The development and testing process will include bond testing, creating drawings, and an Engineer Change Proposal (ECP), as well as container development and container validation. The planned service life of the F-15E is until FY 2041.
