Description
This action was awarded as and 8(a) Sole Source Set-Aside under the authority of section 8(a) of the Small Business Act
Contractor will install a new door, frame and hardware in Building 472. Contractor to also construct a wall consists of metal studs, gyp board, tape, paint and texture. Contractor will also need to install a new exit sign above the door to include a surface mounted conduit for access control. Contractor will need to construct a new 40'x15' metal awning directly adjacent to the North side of Building 580.
- Building 472 Door: Contractor to install a door in Building 472 to control access into a corridor and rooms beyond. Scope includes adding a wall across the existing corridor with door. Door must have access control for entry, tied into facilities badging system fire alarm to release door encase of fire. Door must swing in way of egress as noted with arrow on attached plan, ADA accessibility must be maintained to corridor and provide the required push/pull dimensions. New wall and with door must be located 1’-0” east of door fram of room 102
- Wall:
- 3-5/8: 16 ga. Metal studs at 16: on center to a height of below ceiling grid, provide one layer of 5/8: gypsum board each side.
- Frame out 4’-4” x 7’-2” for new door.
- Contractor must brace wall to avoid gypsum board, cracking when door closes.
- Wall must be taped, floated, textured and painted to match existing adjacent walls.
- Building Facility manager has paint or at least the paint colors to provide to contractor.
- New exit sign is required and must be mounted on east side of wall.
- Contractor must frame the new wall to be flush with the existing ceiling grid.
- Door and Frame:
- Frame must be commercial grade hollow metal 4;-4” x 7;-2” prepped for electric strike for access control. Factory primed and field painted to match existing door frames.
- Door must be commercial grade hollow metal 4;-0” x 7;-0”, door must be factor primed field painted to match existing doors, silencers added to frame.
- Door hardware standard commercial grade hinges per manufacturers recommendations lever handle.
- Contractor shall provide a new core lock for the door.
- Access Control:
- Contractor must provide surface mounted conduit on new wall.
- Contractor to work with intra-works for the badge reading requirements.
- Contractor shall pull power to badge reader and exit sign.
- Contractor must test electric strike release with activation of fire alarm prior to project acceptance.

- Contractor must install 40' x 15' freestanding steel awning directly adjacent to north side of Building 580.
- Contractor to provide a 95% and 100% design submittal for review prior to moving forward for construction. The submittal shall consists of Design Drawings, and Structural Calculations (reflected in the Design Analysis) showing the awning will meet the KAFB Design Standards, UFC and Wind Loads. Contractor shall also provide installation specifications.
- Awning slope should be to center of awning and south to north and be 14' clear at low end and 15' clear at high end.
- Awning must conform to KAFB design standards and meet KAFB wind load requirements.
- Contractor must provide all structural analysis for design of uplift due to wind loads of 150 mph.
- Contractor must provide and install new roof bellows flashing and counter flashing. Bellow flashing must allow for movement due to seismic zone.
- Contractor must pothole or blue-stake location of sewer line located in mid-section of span to avoid damaging existing sewer line with new footings.
- Existing transformers exist in vicinity of project and must be protected during construction.
- Contractor must pothole or blue stake to determine location of underground power line.
- Contractor must remove existing light pack over existing overhead door and provide and install new low-profile light (with photo-cell to underside of canopy.
- Contractor must provide and install exterior j-box for new light, all conduit and associated wire.
- Contractor must tie new light into existing exterior light circuit.
- Contractor must include a gutter system on the north side of the awning sloping towards center and providing a splash pad to protect the existing slab.
- Contractor must construct supporting beams in the center of the awning as to not interfere with the existing roll up door on the building.
- Contractor must construct bollards in front of the north supporting beams of the awning to ensure it is protected from commercial vehicles.
- Contractor must determine if awning interferes or interacts with any existing lightning protection and include necessary protections for awning.
- Contractor must install 40' x 15' freestanding steel awning directly adjacent to north side of Building 580.
