This is for the acquisition of 1 EA Spectralis Tracking System - HRA - Advanced with Ultra-Widefield Angiography Module for use in the Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center Research Department. The North American Industry Classification System Code (NAICS) is 333314. The Government believes that L1 Enterprises is the only SDVOSB that can satisfy the requirements of the agency. Therefore, the Government intends to proceed with a sole source for the required equipment. This procurement is for 1 EA Spectralis Tracking System - HRA - Advanced with Ultra-Widefield Angiography Module using FAR 13.5 Simplified Procedures for Certain Commercial Items and specifically FAR 13.501 Special Documentation Requirements, where acquisitions conducted under Simplified Acquisition Procedures are exempt from the requirements of FAR Part 6, but still require a justification using the format of FAR 6.303-2. 41 USC §3304(a)(5), 38 U.S. Code § 8127(c), as implemented by FAR 6.302-5 (Authorized or Required by Statute). It is the only confocal scanning laser ophthalmoscope (cSLO) to combine the selectivity of laser light with the pinpoint resolution of confocal scanning to provide image detail and clarity not available from traditional fundus photography. Additionally, it is utilized to perform Scanning Laser Angiography. These techniques are required for our research program investigating the role of Glut1 in the microvascular complications of diabetes.
