Description
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) intends to award a single source contract to Communications & Power Industries, LLC (CPI), Palo Alto, CA, for the Evaluation and Repair Services required to support and maintain Klystron Tubes, NSN 5960-01-464-9605, in support of Federal Aviation Administration Airport Surveillance Radar (ASR-9). The Airport Surveillance Radar (ASR) is an aircraft detection system used to increase the safety of the National Airspace System (NAS). Besides aircraft detection, the ASR also provides weather detection for the terminal aircraft approaches. The ASR uses Klystron Tubes to provide final RF power amplification; they are essential for the operation of the radar.
In accordance with the FAA Acquisition Management System Paragraph 3.2.2.4, the purpose of this announcement is to inform industry of the basis of the FAA's decision to contract with a selected source via single source procedures. The rights to all proprietary information necessary to conduct manufacture, repair, and test of these assets are owned by Communications & Power Industries, LLC (CPI).
A market survey (6973GH-24-MS-00006) was posted to the SAM.gov web site on February 2, 2024, and closed February 16, 2024. No responses were received in response to the market survey.
The proposed principle North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this effort is 811210 Electronic and Precision Equipment Repair and Maintenance, with a size standard of $12.5M.
