Description

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention intends to award a sole source firm fixed price purchase order to Life Technologies Corporation for custom TaqMan Array Cards (product ID 4485460- special gene-x, con4) quantity 700 EA.

The TaqMan Array Cards (TAC) are manufacturered by Life Technologies Corporation (a ThermoFisher Scientific Company). This is the only product that can be used for the spotting of reagents on 384 well cards which will be used for multi-pathogen testing of post-mortem specimens from ongoing mortality surveillance program in nine international sites. These TACs include CDC-developed PCR assays arranged in a customized configuration for detection of approximately 40 pathogen-specific targets. This established technology allows for broader screening for diverse and rare pathogens to identify all causes of death beyond the most common pathogens included in other commercial multipathogen panels and which are unique to the populations under surveillance based on geography (subSaharan Africa and South Asia) and age (stillbirths, neonates, and young children). These custom arrays allow for user-friendly multipathogen screening which would otherwise require substantially higher cost, hands-on time from laboratory staff, and investment in equipment and data management systems. Continued use of this product is required for continuity of specimen testing in this mortality surveillance program in which it is a critical component of collected data, which also includes other laboratory tests and clinical variables .

This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, all quotations/responses received within four (4) days of the issuance of this notice will be considered by the government.  A determination by the government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government.  Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.  Any quotation/response should be emailed to the contract specialist at jwc4@cdc.gov by 3:00pm ET on August 25, 2023.
