Request for Information (RFI)
Savannah River Nuclear Solutions, LLC (SRNS), which manages and operates portions of the Savannah River Site (SRS) under a Department of Energy (DOE) prime contract, expressions of interest from potential suppliers capable of performing chiller functional testing in their facility. This RFI is issued to assist with finding potential suppliers interested in this solicitation.
Scope Summary
Perform functional testing for 2 (two) new, York modular 21.5 ton cold nitrogen chiller units, which includes the assembly, disassembly, packaging and shipping of both units to SRNS.
Functional Testing Input Requirements
- Assembled chiller footprint is approximately 12 feet by 14 feet, each. Minimum height clearance: 10 feet.
- Nitrogen gas (minimum purity of 99.5%) at a flow rate of 22,800 lbm/hr with an operating pressure of 135 psig. Inlet temperature shall be -16oF.
- Chilled water at a flow rate of 90 gpm with an operating pressure of 65 psig. Inlet temperature shall be 45oF.
- Instrument air (nitrogen is acceptable) at 2 SCFM to 4 SCFM (max) with an operating pressure of 80-100 psig.
- Electrical: 480 VAC and 120 VAC power
- Approximately 1,100 lbs of refrigerant R507A per chiller.
- Mechanical insulation for chiller components and cold nitrogen pipe
Functional Testing Output Requirements
- Outlet temperature shall be -60 oF.
- Record all of the following parameters:
- Nitrogen gas pressure and flow
- Chilled water pressure and flow
- Chiller compressor motor voltage and current (periodically during functional testing)
- Nitrogen inlet and outlet gas temperatures
- Noise sound levels (at various locations near equipment and in the room)
- Chiller vibration readings
- Room temperature readings
- SRNS shall witness the assembly, functional testing, and disassembly of the chiller units.
A supplier's response to the RFI does not guarantee they will be selected to participate in the RFP.
Suppliers responding to this RFI shall include evidence of the following:
- Submit a detailed capability statement
- Availability October 2024 and estimated duration to perform the testing.
- Submit a proposed plan for the delivery of the nitrogen gas to the chillers at the conditions described in the input requirements.
E-mail response addressing Items 1 through 3 above shall be submitted by 5:00 p.m. est. on 11/15/22 to Barbara McCarty at barbara.mccarty@srs.gov.
