Notice of Intent to Sole Source for Medical Gases

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Indian Health Service (IHS), Bemidji Area intends to award a Purchase Order on a sole source basis for Red Lake Service Unit (RLSU) in Red Lake, MN. The anticipated period of performance will include a twelve (12)-month base period from 07/01/2023 to 06/30/2024 and four (4) option periods up to 06/30/2028.

The sole source action will be issued under the authority of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 13.501(a) - only one source reasonably available due to Bemidji Welders Supply being the only company that can provide the delivery of medical gases to RLSU with a 30 minute response time after receiving a call to deliver medical gases.  Market research has identified Bemidji Welders Supply as the only vendor capable of providing the required delivery of medical gases with a 30 minute timeframe for IHS. It is anticipated that the Government will award a Firm Fixed-Price (FFP) Purchase Order for this requirement.

The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code is 325120 – Industrial Gas Manufacturing – with a size standard of 1,000.
