PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

This project is located in the Apache-Sitgreaves National forest in western-central Arizona. The terrain is rolling and mountainous with elevations ranging up to 7600 ft.

This project consists of replacing an existing bridge structure on Forest Route 24 (MP 10.0) over the East Fork Black River in Greenlee County, Arizona.  The existing 3-span bridge’s overall length is 90.0-ft and width (out-out) measures 30.9-ft.  The bridge was built in 1962 and sees heavy logging truck traffic. The capacity has deteriorated due to loading and age. The load rating was recently dropped making this a candidate for replacement.
