Description

The canopy is a critical part of this system. The canopy fully covers the aircraft door so that passengers are not exposed to these external weather conditions. The canopies are also an essential elements necessary to ensure the fire performance of the walkways system to provide a safe egress path in the event of a spill fire on the ramp. Canopies must meet the requirements of NFPA 415 Standard on Airport Terminal Buildings, Fueling Ramp Drainage, and Loading Walkways 6.2.9 Where loading walkways are provided, the walkway, including the bumpers, curtains, and canopies, shall be seated according to the manufacturer’s instruction and training whenever the walkway is in service. 6.3.2 Flexible closures, canopies, wipers, and weather-sealing devices shall be subjected to the accelerated weathering procedures. Canopy is made of waterproof fabric with padded ends to avoid any scratching on aircraft body as it makes physical contact. The canopy in its extended position covers the aircraft door from all sides. In order to satisfy NFPA 415, the canopy is required to mate with the aircraft fuselage.
