Enhanced-Use Lease in Augusta, Maine
The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), in accordance with 38 U.S.C. Sec 8161, et seq., hereby provides notice of an Industry Day Forum to discuss a potential Child Care Center development project at the Togus, Maine VAMC campus During the Forum, VA will present information about the Enhanced-Use Lease (EUL) program and solicit feedback from developers regarding the proposed project. IDENTIFICATION OF PROPERTY TO BE LEASED: The Togus VAMC is located at 1 VA Center, Augusta, Maine 04330. The EUL building(s) on the Togus campus consists of approximately 1,452 sq. ft. On the east side of campus on Knox Street adjacent to West Gate Road
DESCRIPTION OF THE PROPOSED USE OF THE PROPERTY:   The proposed use for the VA property will be to redevelop or construct a new building to provide a Childcare Center for Veteran employees and/or their families on a priority placement basis. Â
DESCRIPTION OF THE PROPOSED LEASE: VA plans to lease the EUL site to a selected lessee for a term of up to 99 years under VA s Enhanced-Use Lease authority at 38 U.S.C. §§ 8161-8169. The lessee will be required to finance, design, develop, construct, renovate, equip, furnish, operate and maintain a Childcare Center in accordance with applicable Federal, State and local requirements. The underlying leasehold interest and all related improvements will revert to VA at the end of the lease term.
